The Little Star Who Couldn't Sleep

High above the soft blue earth, a tiny star named Lumi was wide awake. All the other stars were twinkling slow, gentle blinks — but Lumi's light kept zipping and flickering like a firefly with hiccups.

"I can't slow down," whispered Lumi. The kind old moon drifted closer. "Try this," he said in his low, round voice. "Breathe in the night… and breathe out a wish."

Lumi breathed in the cool, quiet sky. He breathed out a small, silver wish that floated down to a sleeping child far below. With every breath, his light grew softer, and softer, and softer.

By the time the moon hummed his quietest hum, Lumi was twinkling slow and steady, just like all the other little stars — dreaming sweet dreams till morning.
